2018 Reynolds Lake Fire southwest of Darby, MO shows a potential switch in regime¶
The 2018 Reynolds Lake Fire, southwest of Darby, MO, started on July 17, 2018 due to a lightning strike. It reached over 1,000 acres by July 22, 2018. In the graph above, it can be seen that the difference in the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) hardly recovered after the 2018 fire. NDVI can detect if there is the presence of healthy green vegetation. It is possible that this area has had a difficult time recovering from this fire, or we are seeing a change to grasslands in this area. More information would be needed to make a firm assessment of the recovery in this area.
